They are Like Cows!

On Saturday, we went to our friends wedding. It was a lovely wedding at a beautiful little chapel set in a gorgeous garden setting. The whole location was so serene and beautiful a wonderful place to start a long and happy life together. As we sat in the chapel waiting for the ceremony to begin, I took a moment to look through the large glass windows out onto the lush green rolling hills that surrounded the chapel. My eyes drifted across the clear horizon appreciating the beautiful contrast between the green carpeted hills and the bright blue sky when out of the corner of my eye, I saw something that looked a bit out of place. Standing on a hill, far off of one of the walking trails, were two people. Their bodies faced south towards one of the large ponds, but their heads were turned to the west looking right into the chapel. They stood motionless and perfectly parallel to each other on that hill. They were wearing very bright red shirts, both of them, that popped against the bright green background of the rolling hills.

The string quartet had just begun playing the music that signified the entrance of the grandmothers. I know I shouldnt have done it, but I elbowed Ryan and gestured towards the hill where the couple still stood motionless bodies facing south, heads facing west. Ryan snorted then giggled. They are like cows! he whispered. And really, they were. All that was missing was the gentle switch of their tails as they grazed on a lush green hill in the warm afternoon soon. And then our bodies shook with the forbidden laughter that comes when comedy enters a place of worship.
